Job summary

City of Longmont seeks an Energy Code Coordinator & Plans Examiner to drive building energy code updates and strategy across departments. You will lead policy development, provide education to staff and contractors, and ensure code compliance through plan reviews and inspections.

The role requires coordinating with the Chief Building Official and external partners, delivering trainings, and improving processes to meet City energy goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or energy engineering, architecture, construction management or related field.
• Experience with energy performance programs and building energy code policy is preferred.
• Ability to develop training and outreach materials for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of strategic building energy codes and processes.
• Perform plan reviews and inspections using Accela and Bluebeam for energy code compliance.
• Educate and train code officials, plans examiners, and utility staff.
• Coordinate energy code policy development, adoption, and implementation with departments.
• Track performance metrics and identify improvements to code processes and timelines.
