Job Description

The Energy Audit Project Manager we are looking for will enjoy the challenge of working on multiple projects on a fast-paced schedule, working with senior staff to assess sites across the country, performing field work as well as providing field oversight on a variety of projects. This position is open to candidates in all parts of the United States, but will require frequent travel to various job sites in Illinois, Colorado, and other states.

Core Responsibilities
  • Conduct commercial energy usage assessments, ASHRAE audits, Property Condition Assessments and mechanical equipment reviews. Conduct/Direct field assessment activities.
  • Write and review condition reports, energy audits and other assessment reports.
  • Represent VERTEX to the client in a professional manner. Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy.
  • Schedule and coordinate subcontractor activities for projects.
  • Prepare and implement Health and Safety Plans for the site where required.

  • Effectively coordinate with other team members as requested or assigned, able to provide technical work product review, and monitor own progress on assigned tasks or projects, and ensure work product produced by self is consistently high quality
  • Support assigned manager in monitoring of all relevant data related to own performance such as individual utilization rate vs target, client deadlines, accurate and timely timesheet data, etc.
  • Conduct own behavior in a "lead by example" manner, with emphasis on positivity
  • Manage own tasks within assigned projects in support of meeting defined objectives and key results (OKRs).
  • Perform quality control of all assigned service delivery and self-generated work product, maintaining an excellent reputation of quality
  • Provide feedback to project team leader in a manner that assists with rapid identification and escalation of any client, or technical or operational challenges
Operations
  • Be aware of and perform own tasks in a manner that supports the organization’s vision and defined business objectives
  • Conduct self and prioritize tasks to work toward achievement of defined profit objectives of assigned projects
  • Cooperate in construction of strong cross-functional teams (support staff assignments of self) to achieve success in shared goals, understanding that multiple perspectives and talents build stronger teams and results
  • Complete daily tasks consistent with contract requirements and proactively alert assigned manager to any potential challenges or issues
  • Ensure compliance of operations with all local, state and Federal (and International, if applicable) regulations, as well as compliance with company policy
  • Ensure consistent high quality on deliverables for all individual work product
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Competencies
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction management and 8 years of related experience, a Master's degree and 6 years of related experience, or 11 years of related experience and no degree.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) a plus.
  • Construction and/or building science related experience with at least four years of experience conducting commercial building energy assessments.
  • Experience with Fannie Mae Green Assessments for Multi-Family a plus.
  • Frequent travel throughout North America and/or field work (valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required).
  • Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients and subcontractors.
  • Able to work with minimal oversight, but take direction from Senior managers.
  • Able to meet aggressive deadlines, both internally and externally.
  • Other project duties as assigned by senior staff.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Must be able to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities, and have the ability to perform exceptionally under high stress conditions.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, Adobe) required.
  • Proficiency and experience with energy modeling software such as EQUEST, EPA Portfolio Manager a plus.
  • Proficiency or working knowledge of CAD a plus.
  • Special Health & Safety Certification pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER 40 Hour) is not required, but would be beneficial.
Physical Requirements
  • Walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain, climbing stairs and ladders, accessing flat roofs.
  • Carry field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds) onto job sites occasionally.
  • Hands-On experience in the execution of Energy Auditing Services and development of energy conservation measures, determination of payback terms, energy modeling, experience with Property Condition Assessments and Environmental Assessments a plus.

The Pay Range For This Role Is
  • $101,000.00 - $276,000.00 USD annually (Geographical Tier A - Sample Locations: Irvine CA, Middlesex NJ, Tacoma WA, Boston, Alexandria)
  • $92,000.00 - $253,000.00 USD annually (Geographical Tier B - Sample Locations - Baltimore, Chicago, Anchorage, Portland)
