Job summary

The Vertex Companies, LLC seeks experienced Property Condition Assessors to perform building condition assessments across the region and coordinate with engineers and clients. You will evaluate structural and mechanical conditions across various property types and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.

This role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering/Architecture/Construction, 5–8 years of related experience, and willingness to travel; OSHA training is required, CAD/MS Office skills helpful,

Enjoy the challenge of working on multiple building assessment projects throughout their assigned region (and in some cases beyond) for a variety of property types. You will utilize your expertise in construction/engineering to assess the structural and mechanical condition all types of building structures

Core Responsibilities

Work Product Creation, Project Management, Coordination with Team Members

• Conduct Property Condition Assessments, commercial energy usage assessments, and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
• Conduct/Direct field assessment activities and work alongside our team of engineers and environmental professionals, subcontractors, and clients.
• Schedule and coordinate subcontractor activities for projects.
• Write and review detailed building condition reports, energy audits and other technical assessment reports.
• Schedule and coordinate subcontractor activities for projects.
• Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy.
• Prepare and implement Health and Safety Plans for the site where required
• Effectively coordinate with other team members as requested or assigned, able to provide guidance and monitor progress on assigned tasks or projects, and ensure work product produced by self or other assigned team members is consistently high quality
• Support assigned Managing Consultant in monitoring of all relevant data such as individual utilization performance vs target, client deadlines, accurate and timely timesheet data, etc.
• Meet or exceed defined individual average utilization goals as set forth by company leadership
• Coordinate and support other team members as assigned in a "lead by example" manner, with emphasis on positivity and a culture that is empowered to execute
• Mentor project team members in execution of defined objectives and key results (OKRs).
• Travel, as necessary to support client, employee, and leadership needs.
• Support individual and any assigned team members quality control of service delivery, maintaining an excellent reputation of quality

• Be aware of and work in a manner that supports the organization’s vision and defined business objectives
• Conduct self and collaborate with others in working toward achievement of defined profit objectives of assigned projects
• Cooperate in construction of strong cross-functional teams (cooperate with any suggested project assignments outside of original assigned practice area) to achieve success in shared goals, understanding that multiple perspectives and talents build stronger teams and results
• Complete daily tasks consistently

Qualifications & Competencies

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction and 5 years of related experience, a Master's degree and 3 years of related experience, or 8 years of related experience and no degree.
• Successful work experience in the execution of Property Condition Assessments following ASTM E2018 protocols; Energy Auditing Services and development of energy conservation measures.
• Environmental Assessment experience is a plus.
• Mechanical systems evaluation experience a plus. Proficiency or working knowledge of CAD a plus.
• PE or RA registration a plus.
• OSHA-10 or -30 certification required as part of job, training will be provided as needed.
• Health & Safety Certification pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER 40 Hour) is not required but would be beneficial. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong technical report writing skills.
• Ability/willingness for frequent regional travel for field work (valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required).
• Must be able to perform multiple tasks and handle multiple priorities and can perform exceptionally under fast-paced conditions.
• MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), familiarity/proficiency with Quire a plus.
• Ability to walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain, climbing of ladders to access and evaluate roofing conditions and roof-mounted equipment.
• Ability to carry field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds) onto job sites occasionally

• Experience in providing reliable work product review as assigned
• Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers and Supervisors, and clients, subcontractors, and vendors as assigned

• Demonstrated self-awareness and flexibility in working with a variety of personalities and work styles (colleagues, clients, Assigned Managing Consultant(s))
• Able to handle multiple priorities and perform consistently and positively under high stress conditions
• Knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, Adobe) required
