Job summary

Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) seeks a Certification Clerk in Downtown Boston to determine income and program eligibility for energy bill payments. You will review fuel assistance applications, certify eligibility, and communicate missing information while maintaining compliance with federal and state guidelines.

The role requires detail-oriented organization, up to 12 months of related experience, and the ability to work with diverse clients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Up to 12 months relevant experience preferred.
• Experience as a Client Services Representative or Payment Clerk is a plus.
• Must be organized and detail-oriented with ability to handle high volume paperwork.
• Ability to understand and interpret federal and state regulations/guidelines.
• Good mathematical skills and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Review and verify fuel assistance applications for completeness, income eligibility and documentation of both income and need for fuel.
• Certify complete applications for payment of energy bills in accordance with regulations and ABCD policies.
• Identify incomplete applications and inform applicants in writing of missing information or documentation.
• Conduct telephone inquiries, as needed, for further information from applicants.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
