Job summary

SOCOTEC US is seeking an Energy Architect to join the Energy Modeling group in New York. The role supports Project Managers on high-profile sustainability projects for national and international clients, leveraging expertise in energy envelope analysis and U-value calculations.

The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years of experience, a strong background in architectural details, and proficiency with tools like THERM, WUFI, COMCheck, and CFD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Architecture; other engineering/physics degrees acceptable with architectural experience
• US project experience with envelope U-value calculations is a plus
• Experience with THERM, COMCheck, WUFI, or CFD is a plus
• Knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics is a plus
• Excellent analytical abilities; written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; basic AutoCAD and Revit skills
• Computer programming knowledge is a plus as SOCOTEC often utilizes and develops custom analysis tools

Responsibilities

• Perform calculations of U-value for various building assemblies (walls, thermal bridges, fenestration, roofs, etc), spanning the entire range of construction in multiple climate zones – after training
• Perform dewpoint analyses – after training
• Perform hygrothermal transfer (WUFI modeling) – after training
• Perform CFD analyses, if activating in this area – after training
• Document and maintain well written reports on project related activity
• Communicate effectively and establish relationships with job related management teams
• Provide cross-functional support to ensure client needs and internal timelines/project activities are completed
• Maintain detailed documents and progression of work from beginning through completion
• Attend in-house seminars and scheduled team meetings
• Maintain established utilization levels
