Job summary

South Shore Stars, Inc. seeks a Center team member to help develop and maintain a safe, nurturing, creative, and developmentally appropriate program for children during a 44-week school year.

You will work with Center leadership to implement goals, build positive relationships with children, plan age-appropriate activities, manage behavior, and communicate with parents. The role includes possible van driving, menu support, and event participation.

Qualifications

• Meet DEEC qualifications for School Age Group Leader.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children in a formal setting.
• Willingness and ability to obtain MA 7D Driving License.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule including full days during school vacations.
• Ability to set clear expectations and limits for children.
• High energy, warm and nurturing personality.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement program goals and objectives with the Center Director/Assistant Director.
• Develop strong, positive relationships with each child.
• Create age-appropriate activities and lead both individual and group activities, special projects, and field trips.
• Establish and maintain behavioral limits and classroom order.
• Communicate with parents about children’s daily needs, interests, progress and concerns, with guidance from the Center Director/Assistant Director.
• Assist with keeping the center clean and organized.
• Drive Center van to transport children if MA 7D license is obtained.
• Assist with menu planning, food preparation and purchasing.
• Assist with record keeping.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; develop annual evaluation goals and training plan.
• Fulfill all other assigned tasks.
