Job summary

The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) in Florida's Eglin AFB is seeking a Material Characterization Technician to support the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Energetic Materials Branch. This role focuses on material characterization and small-scale safety testing, preparing samples, setting up experiments, and analyzing data.

You will work within a team of scientists and technicians, ensuring strict safety and quality standards are followed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (T1) with 3 years related work experience.
• Ability to organize and keep good records.
• Teamwork with scientists, engineers and technicians.
• Experience with repetitive tasks and a clean working environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication in a scientific setting.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance.
• U.S. citizen due to government contracts.

Responsibilities

• Energetic Materials safety testing and repetitive sample characterization.
• Chemical hygiene: storage, handling, disposal, inventory of hazardous chemicals.
• Data management: accurately record and archive logs.
• Technical communication of results to research engineers and program managers.
• Safety compliance with DoW, USAF, AFRL standards and SOPs.
• Maintain inventory and storage protocols for energetic materials.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on laboratory equipment.
