Job summary

University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) at Eglin AFB, FL, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support energetic materials characterization and safety testing. Responsibilities include sample prep, running repeat experiments, data compilation, and reporting in a safety-conscious environment.

Ideal candidates will have wet-chemical lab experience, ability to work in a team of scientists and engineers, and the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance for DoD contracting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (T1) with 3 years related experience (T2).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to work in a team of scientists, engineers and technicians.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance; U.S. citizen per contract.

Responsibilities

• Energetic Materials Safety Testing: Sample preparation and repetitive testing to characterize safety thresholds per SOPs.
• Chemical Laboratory Hygiene: Follow guidelines for chemical storage, handling, disposal, and hazardous waste operations.
• Data Management, Documentation & Reporting: Accurately record, track, and archive logs; communicate results to researchers and program managers.
• Safety, Explosives Accountability & Facility Management: Ensure compliance with DoD/USAF/AFRL safety standards; maintain inventory and equipment.
