Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking an Exercise Instructor at the Mel Korum Family YMCA in Puyallup, WA. This part-time role focuses on safe, engaging group exercise classes that promote member safety and participation. The ideal candidate has experience teaching bootcamp/cardio strength, cycling, or yoga, with at least one year of group fitness experience and appropriate certifications.

CPR/First Aid is preferred. Pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in group exercise classes.
• Knowledge of core fitness components and best practices for group exercise instruction.
• Group Exercise or related certification (preferred).
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen certifications (preferred).
• Ability to pass Background and Reference checks as per WA State law.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusive environment.
• Completion of online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fun, safe and educational classes
• Design classes to improve flexibility, strength, endurance, and cardio-respiratory conditioning
• Demonstrate techniques with different intensity levels
• Build relationships with members
• Assist in compiling program statistics
