Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking an Exercise Instructor at the Mel Korum Family YMCA in Puyallup, WA. This part-time role teaches group exercise and fosters a safe, engaging atmosphere focused on member safety.

The ideal candidate has experience in bootcamp/cardio/strength, cycling, or yoga and holds certifications such as YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning, Foundations of Group Exercise, ACE/ACSM, or AFAA.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering group exercise classes and keeping participants safe.
• Certifications in core fitness areas are preferred (see qualifications).
• CPR/First Aid/AED certifications preferred; background checks may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, engaging group exercise classes for members.
• Design classes addressing flexibility, strength, endurance, and cardio fitness.
• Demonstrate techniques at varying intensities for all fitness levels.
• Build positive relationships with members and maintain equipment.
• Assist in compiling program statistics and track participation.
• Support branch events and contribute to outreach goals.
