Job description

Endowed Faculty Position in Physical and Quantitative Biology

We invite applications for an endowed tenure‑track faculty position in Physical and Quantitative Biology at the Laufer Center at Stony Brook University. We seek candidates at the assistant or associate professor level, but senior candidates will also be considered.

We welcome applicants from all areas of physical and quantitative biology, including theory/computations and/or experiments. Particular interest will be given to work on the encoding of cell behaviors, decision‑making, evolution, and adaptation in biomolecular networks, and how these processes can be controlled or designed.

The position focuses primarily on research with limited teaching responsibilities and is supported by a Laufer Endowed Professorship, which provides annual research support. The successful candidate will have a PhD in life sciences, physical sciences, engineering, computer science, or mathematics; a strong record of research productivity; and the potential for collaboration and leadership in a research setting.

The Louis and Beatrice Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology at Stony Brook University is a multidisciplinary hub for research and graduate training that brings together experts in physics, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, and biology to discover in biomolecules and cells and advance drug discovery.
