Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks an Endoscopy Tech to support reprocessing of endoscopes under RN supervision in an ambulatory care setting. The tech will operate reprocessing machines, ensure patient safety, and maintain sterile technique to support timely procedures.

Responsibilities include documentation, inventory management, and assisting nurses with patient prep and post-procedure care. Requires high school diploma and BLS certification; BS degree preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• CPR – Basic Life Support.

Responsibilities

• Maintains competencies in the reprocessing of endoscopes and operating the scope washers.
• Identifies actual or potential problems with the integrity of the endoscopes and assists the charge nurse in orchestrating repair.
• Maintains documentation regarding the inventory and repair of endoscopes.
• Uses proper patient identification procedures in transporting of patients.
• Safely transports patients by wheelchair or stretcher.
• Demonstrates support and awareness of daily schedule by expediting on time starts and efficient turnover between procedures.
• Locates, obtains, and restocks supplies and equipment.
• Performs services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of a physician and/or nurse.
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment.
• Assists the nurse in the preparation of the patient prior to and after the procedure.
