Job summary

Danbury Hospital is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to support GI/pulmonary procedures under direct supervision. You will prepare rooms, assist physicians, and maintain sterile technique and instrument reprocessing throughout endoscopic cases.

The role emphasizes safe patient handling, lab specimen processing, and ongoing training in scope surveillance and quality assurance within the Gastroenterology department.

Qualifications

• Certification in Flexible Endoscope Reprocessing or SGNA associates certification achieved when eligible and within 2 yrs of hire date.
• Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.
• Required knowledge of infection control prevention.
• Minimum 1 yr experience required as PCT or in a related field.
• HS Graduate or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepares rooms with appropriate instruments, devices, supplies and equipment for endoscopic procedures as outlined in the Endoscopic Preference Plans.
• Assists physicians with all types of Endoscopic procedures using universal precautions. Expert at use of equipment and accessories.
• Follows departmental procedures in donning and doffing PPE while observing for contamination and/or breaks in aseptic or clean techniques; maintains sterile field.
• Appropriately processes all types of lab specimens.
• Follows aseptic technique when opening sterile supplies and setting up for procedures; discards contaminated supplies per procedures.
• Assists team to clean and prepare rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning; restocks supplies as needed.
• Performs chemical and bacteriological monitoring; maintains Quality Assurance log.
• Trains and participates in Scope surveillance.
