Hartford HealthCare is seeking an entry-level Patient Care Technician in New Britain, CT to assist in the Endoscopy Unit. Under supervision, you will prepare rooms, disinfect equipment, and help with patient positioning and care during procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma, ability to learn infection prevention practices, and effective communication with the team. On-site work with on-going education and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Infection Prevention principles.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to all patient elements, i.e. bloodborne pathogens.
• Basic radiation safety education as required.
• Effective communication with the healthcare team and patients.

Responsibilities

• Prepares procedure rooms for endoscopy and cleans rooms and equipment after use.
• Assists with maintaining an efficient technical operation in the Endoscopy Unit.
• Performs high-level disinfection of endoscopic equipment.
• Transports patients and assists in specimen collection as needed.
• Documents pertinent patient information on the medical record.
• Models quality patient service and advocates for patients.
• Maintains inventories and restocks supplies for timely care.
• Works with RN and provider to assist during procedures.
