Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking an Endoscopy Technician in Greenfield, MA to join the Endoscopy team at Baystate Franklin Medical Center. The role involves assisting with endoscopy procedures and patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, supporting procedures, handling specimens, maintaining rooms and equipment, and documenting activities to meet regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate competency in reading and mathematics as verified by an aptitude test.
• Must successfully complete the orientation program.
• Must be capable of following detailed instructions, prioritizing multiple activities, and working effectively with others.
• Must have good hand-to-eye coordination, mechanical ability, and intact or corrected vision and hearing.
• Must be able to maintain continuous mental and visual attention and work independently in stressful or emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the RN and physician with patient care, including collecting vital signs and information needed to assess patient needs.
• Assist physicians and RNs during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures and support the established plan of care.
• Process patient specimens according to established procedures and guidelines.
• Prepare patients for flexible sigmoidoscopy procedures, including administration of Fleet and tap water enemas as directed.
• Maintain endoscopy rooms, equipment, and supplies, including ordering and restocking supplies and cleaning and disinfecting equipment and endoscopes.
• Provide room turnover and technical support to help maintain an efficient and safe endoscopy environment.
• Respond to emergency situations as directed by the RN and/or physician.
• Complete required documentation and administrative tasks while maintaining a safe environment and complying with regulatory, professional, and organizational standards.
