Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to join the Endoscopy team at the Chestnut Surgical Center at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. This role provides direct and indirect clinical patient care and technical support during diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology/endoscopy procedures.

Under the supervision of an RN or physician, you will assist with procedures, prepare patients, process specimens, maintain equipment, and ensure rooms are ready for care.

Qualifications

• Minimum GED or HiSET required.
• Demonstrated Endoscopy Technician experience.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN/physician with patient care activities and data collection.
• Support diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
• Prepare patients for flexible sigmoidoscopy and enema administration as directed.

Endoscopy Technician - Endoscopy Endoscopy Technician in Springfield, MA | Baystate Health Careers Department: Endoscopy Location: Chestnut Surgical Center at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Massachusetts Job Type: Per Diem Shift: As Needed Make an Impact with Baystate Health Baystate Health is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to join our Endoscopy team at the Chestnut Surgical Center at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Endoscopy Technician provides direct and indirect clinical patient care and technical support in a diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology/endoscopy practice setting. Working under the direct, on-site supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or physician, this role supports patients and the clinical team throughout diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The Endoscopy Technician plays an important role in creating a safe, efficient, and supportive environment for patients and staff. This position provides hands‑on technical support during procedures, assists with patient care activities, processes specimens, maintains equipment and supplies, and helps ensure endoscopy rooms are prepared and ready for patient care.

The Endoscopy Technician Will

• Assist the RN and/or physician with delegated patient care activities, including collecting data such as vital signs to support an objective assessment of patient needs and concerns.
• Assist the physician and RN with implementation of the established plan of care and during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
• Prepare patients for flexible sigmoidoscopy, including administration of Fleet enemas and tap water enemas as directed.
• Process specimens in accordance with established procedures and guidance.
• Provide endoscopy room turnover and technical support to promote an efficient procedure environment.
• Maintain room supplies and equipment, including ordering and restocking supplies as needed.
• Clean and disinfect endoscopes, rooms, and equipment in accordance with established procedures and standards.
• Respond to emergency situations as directed by the RN and/or physician while helping maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Complete required documentation and unit-related administrative tasks, including use of the CIS computer system, telephone communication, filing, and processing charges.
• Participate in continuing education and organizational performance improvement activities and maintain knowledge of scope‑of‑practice, ethical, professional, and legal standards applicable to patient care.

Compensation Note

The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum $21.95 - $25.22 - $29.82
