Baystate Health is seeking an Endoscopy Technician for the Endoscopy Department at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, MA. The role supports endoscopy services and works under on-site supervision with RNs and physicians to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

The technician will assist with patient care, procedure support, specimen processing, room preparation, and equipment maintenance, contributing to an efficient endoscopy environment and compliant operations.

Qualifications

• No previous work experience required; must complete orientation program.
• Must have good hand-to-eye coordination, and intact or corrected vision and hearing.
• Preferred: 6 months to 1 year of hospital experience; knowledge of gastroenterology/endoscopy is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN and physician with patient care and vital signs as needed.
• Assist during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures and support the plan of care.
• Process patient specimens according to procedures and guidelines.
• Prepare patients for flexible sigmoidoscopy procedures and enemas as directed.
• Maintain endoscopy rooms, equipment, and supplies, including cleaning and disinfecting endoscopes.
• Provide room turnover and technical support to maintain a safe environment.
• Respond to emergency situations as directed by RN/physician.
• Complete documentation and administrative tasks while complying with standards.

Baystate Health is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to join our Endoscopy team at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, Massachusetts. The Endoscopy team provides diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology and endoscopy services, working closely with physicians, registered nurses, and patients to support safe, high-quality patient care. The Endoscopy Technician role offers the opportunity to develop hands-on clinical and technical skills while supporting patients and collaborating with a specialized gastroenterology team. Under the direct, on-site supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or physician, the Endoscopy Technician performs direct and indirect patient care activities and provides technical support throughout endoscopy procedures.

The Endoscopy Technician Will

• Assist the RN and physician with patient care, including collecting vital signs and other information needed to assess patient needs.
• Assist physicians and RNs during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures and support the established plan of care.
• Process patient specimens according to established procedures and guidelines.
• Prepare patients for flexible sigmoidoscopy procedures, including administration of Fleet and tap water enemas as directed.
• Maintain endoscopy rooms, equipment, and supplies, including ordering and restocking supplies and cleaning and disinfecting equipment and endoscopes.
• Provide room turnover and technical support to help maintain an efficient and safe endoscopy environment.
• Respond to emergency situations as directed by the RN and/or physician.
• Complete required documentation and administrative tasks while maintaining a safe environment and complying with regulatory, professional, and organizational standards.

Required Skills

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Moderate physical strength and effort required to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of scope-of-practice considerations related to gastroenterology and endoscopy.

The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
