Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• BCLS within 30 days preferred at hire.
• Minimum of one year of procedural or sterile processing experience in endoscopy/healthcare.
• Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor certification within two years (1 year preferred).
• Experience in interventional procedures preferred.
• Experience in decontamination/sterile prep preferred.
• Basic typing and computer skills.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• PREPARATION — Selects and prepares supplies/equipment based on knowledge and physician plan of care; checks case supplies; notifies if items are unavailable; seeks education if unfamiliar.
• INFECTION CONTROL — Ensures instruments/sets are clean, disinfected, or sterile; applies asepsis and patient-safety principles; sets up field with PPE; uses infection-control techniques for draping.
• PROCEDURE PERFORMANCE — Assists in direct patient care under RN/Proceduralist; observes, anticipates team needs; prepares/delivers supplies; maintains organized field and storage.
• PATIENT CARE/SAFETY — Performs nursing process per physician; takes vital signs/POCTs and documents; participates in Universal Protocol/Timeout; positions patients and handles specimens correctly.
• DECONTAMINATION/STERILE PROCESSING — Cares for instruments; maintains instrument/equipment status; arranges repairs/replacements; cleans/sterilizes instruments and equipment; monitors sterility and disinfection results.
• ORGANIZATIONALY STANDARDS — Participates in committees/educational opportunities; observes cost-containment practices.
• MISCELLANEOUS — Assists in cleaning/restocking; moves equipment; transports patients; handles waste and linen; assists in inventory and ordering; notifies coordinator of issues; performs other duties as assigned.
