Description

A Brief Overview

Assists in safe, efficient endoscopic procedures that physicians will use as a tool for making a diagnosis for adult patients. Assists in procedure rooms in caring for patients, obtaining specimens, cleaning, and turnaround of procedure rooms. Be knowledgeable in high-level disinfected practices and record keeping. Be proficient in endoscopic equipment, setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Cross-trains to assist in procedures as needed. Participates in staff development and actively pursues professional and self-development. Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Do

• Accurately decontaminates and reprocesses endoscopic equipment and accessories (35%).
• Under the direction of an RN, assists in procedure rooms to care for patients, obtain specimens, and manage cleaning and turnaround of procedure rooms and pre- and post-recovery areas (35%).
• Maintains the cleanliness of all procedure rooms and reprocessing rooms (20%).
• Maintains inventory of endoscopy supplies, reprocessing supplies, and equipment (10%).

Additional Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
• Refers to departmental documentation during orientation for specific duties and responsibilities.
• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct, and UH policies and procedures address the appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
