Summary

Functions as a member of the GI team by assisting the physician and team with procedures, decontaminating equipment, and preparing rooms. Understands procedures, patient positioning, and decontamination standards; works well in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

Job Duties

• Assists with GI and pulmonary procedures such as colonoscopies, endoscopies, and bronchoscopies.
• Completes vital signs and checks patient measurements and health indicators.
• Supports care delivery team to assist providers and nurses.
• Identifies and communicates patient risks.
• Performs clerical functions to support patient care.
• Maintains knowledge of insurance and authorization requirements.
• Troubleshoots and maintains equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• 3 years of experience in a physician office practice setting.
• Ability to adapt to change and work with diverse populations.
• Competency with technology, equipment, and supplies for patient care.
• Initiative and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Knowledge of patient care from a developmental perspective.
• Excellent computer skills, including EMR, Word, and Excel.
• Knowledge of endoscopy equipment and decontamination procedures.
• American Heart Association BLS certification upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with technology after orientation.
• Relevant medical assistant certifications (various options listed).

Physical Demands

Lift over 50 lbs, push/pull up to 140 lbs, carry 80 lbs, and perform various physical activities frequently.
