Job summary

UAB Medicine's East Station Endoscopy Lab in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated team member to support endoscopic procedures by preparing equipment, field, and specimens, and by reviewing patient history to ensure proper positioning and site preparation.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, reporting results, monitoring for abnormalities, and maintaining equipment and space. A High School diploma/equivalent with relevant experience plus BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 30 days of hire (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years experience OR Associate's/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable experience.

• Prepare equipment, field, and manage specimens for endoscopic procedures.
• Prepare patients by reviewing history, positioning, cleaning/shaving/numbing testing sites as appropriate.
• Interpret, describe and report test results; monitor patient condition before, during, and after procedures and report abnormalities.
• Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies, and lab area.

• Schedule: M-F; 6:00am-2:30pm; Call rotation required.

Job Description

Support endoscopic procedures by preparing the equipment, field and managing specimens.

• Prepare patients for procedures by reviewing medical history, appropriately positioning patient and cleaning/shaving/numbing testing sites as appropriate.
• Interpret, describe and report test results. Recognize recording errors and artifacts and react appropriately.
• Monitor patient prior to, during and after procedures and promptly reports any abnormal findings in patient's condition.
• Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies and lab area.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
  degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
