Job summary

Advocate Health, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center - Endoscopy Unit in Winston-Salem, NC, seeks a Decontamination Technician to perform manual and automated decontamination of scopes and instruments in a high-volume GI setting.

Responsibilities include operating Endora tracking system and related devices, ensuring cleanliness and proper function, maintaining documentation, and supporting the Endoscopy team during procedures and on-call shifts; requires a high school diploma and BLS

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; six months related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates all department equipment in decontamination areas and reports issues to the Endoscopy Manager.
• Performs manual and automated decontamination of GI scopes and instruments.
• Inspects scopes/instruments for cleanliness and function; rotates/tools as needed.
• Assembles scopes/instruments for transport and storage per procedure room needs.
• Packages instruments per manufacturer instructions and documents decontamination steps.
• Maintains and verifies decontamination documentation in the Endora system.
• Stores instruments in identified locations and coordinates with sterilization.
• Assists with specimen transport to pathology as needed.
• Supports team during GI procedures in critical care and OR; participates in monthly trainings.
• Complies with safety policies to prevent spread of contaminants and diseases.
• Assists in travel GI cases and supports workflow and patient throughput.
