Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a full-time GI support role to clean, disinfect, and calibrate endoscopes and assist GI physicians and nurses in procedures. You will participate in patient transport, pre/post-procedure prep, and room turnover, ensuring patient comfort and safety.

You will work under supervision, support staff education, and help stock rooms and manage supplies. A high school diploma and GI-focused certifications are required, with BLS and ongoing CEU requirements to maintain

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associates Program Certificate of Completion through Society of Gastrointestinal Nurses and Associates within eight months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within six months of hire.
• Must fulfill six Continuing Education Units (CEU) per year according to Sanford Health and unit requirements.
• Four of these CEU's will be GI specific.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect and/or calibrate scopes and other endoscopic instruments.
• Support activities in the care of the gastroenterology (GI) patients.
• Perform duties under the direct supervision of the physician and registered nurse.
• Assist in the orientation and education of personnel.
• Assist in pre-procedure preparation, including transporting patients and ensuring comfort.
• Transport patients as needed.
• Prepare procedure rooms and assist intra-procedure with biopsies and polypectomies; assist post-procedure patient care.
• Clean/turnover GI procedure rooms following standards.
• Disinfects/calibrates scopes or endoscopic instruments per manufacturer and facility standards.
• Stock procedure rooms, refill inventory, and manage unit supplies.
• Access medication storage areas to stock secured items.
