Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Buda, TX seeks a part-time Gastroenterology Technician 2 for the Endoscopy Lab. The role involves assisting with GI procedures, supervising cleaning and sterilization of equipment, and coordinating with nurses and physicians to ensure patient safety and quality care.

You will support the recovery area, document data, and help maintain a safe healthcare environment in a fast-paced GI lab setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
• BLS or CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist in gastroenterology procedures not requiring sedation and inform patients.
• Assist with sedation procedures alongside nurses and physicians; monitor vitals and respond to emergencies.
• Clean, sterilize and maintain GI equipment; supervise others to ensure quality control.
• Assist in recovery area; monitor patient data and prepare slides for lab investigation.
• Document required data during patient admission and discharge in the GI Lab.
• Order supplies with supervisor approval and coordinate with vendors for timely delivery.

Job Summary

As a Gastroenterology Technician 2, you work under clinical oversight. You perform examinations and procedures proficiently. You guide fellow technicians to ensure procedures meet standards. You oversee teammates cleaning and sterilizing equipment. Your role helps maintain a safe healthcare environment.

Essential Functions of the Role

• Help with procedures not needing sedation, making sure patients are informed, answering questions about the process.
• Partner with nurses and doctors during sedation procedures. Use scopes, monitor vital signs, and assist with emergencies like CPR.
• Keep equipment clean and sanitized. Train and oversee others to ensure quality control during gastrointestinal procedures.
• Assist in the recovery room by monitoring and noting patient physiological data. Additionally, you’ll prepare specimen slides for lab investigation.
• Make sure technicians follow standards. Give feedback and train new technicians.
• Partner with Clinical Nurses in documenting required data during patient admission and discharge in the GI Lab.
• Order supplies, get supervisor approval, and communicate with vendors for timely delivery.
• Monitor equipment, create quality reports.
• Manage maintenance schedules and installation.
