Job summary

Qualifications

• Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent; graduation from an accredited school of Surgical Technology; Completion of a GI and or Pulmonary Endoscopy program or an accredited Surgical Technician program.
• Preferred Education: Completion of a GI and or Pulmonary Endoscopy program or an accredited Surgical Technician program.
• Required Experience: Two years’ GI or Pulmonary Endoscopy experience.
• Preferred Experience: Advanced endoscopy (i.e., ERCP) procedure experience.
• Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Certified Surgical Tech (CST) or Surgery-Certified Credential (TS-C) from CAAHEP or ABHES certification.
• Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS – Basic Life Support certification issued by AHA.
• Continuing Medical Education: 20 hours of CME per year; SGNA CME courses apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures.
• Prepare procedure room and equipment; clean up and sterilize after procedures.
• Maintain endoscopic equipment including cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and calibrating instruments.
• Operate processing and high-level disinfection of endoscopes; perform daily quality control and documentation.
• Initiate purchase orders for devices and supplies; follow policies for reprocessing and transport endoscopes.
• Complete vendor processes and mail out damaged endoscopes as required.
• Initiate engineering, biomed, and vendor work orders as needed.
• Ensure supplies and devices are not expired; maintain accurate records.
• Maintain logs for intake, supply, decontamination, and intra-procedural areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
