Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an Endoscopy Technician 1 to support procedures under RN supervision. The role involves patient care, equipment setup, and adherence to aseptic techniques and safety standards.

The position contributes to timely procedures, accurate monitoring of patient status, and maintaining clean, organized procedure rooms. The incumbent will participate in ongoing performance improvement activities and care delivery within a major Texas health system.

Qualifications

• English language proficiency required.
• Experience not mandatory but preferred in clinical settings.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains equipment safely and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Assists physician and designated clinical staff during procedures requiring aseptic techniques and standard precautions.
• Prepares patient for exams or procedures and assists physician.
• Transports supplies and equipment as needed and ensures room is ready for procedures.
• Observes patient condition and seeks assistance as needed.
• Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies and places orders when necessary.
• Sets up procedure rooms with required equipment and supplies and restocks after shifts.
• Performs quality checks on equipment and ensures proper cleaning and disinfection.

Job Summary

The Endoscopy Technician 1, under a Registered Nurse's supervision, assists with technical procedures, patient care, and other duties.

Essential Functions of the Role

• Operates and maintains equipment safely and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Assists physician and other designated clinical staff members in carrying out procedures which require aseptic techniques observing standard precautions.
• Safely transports cart to different areas of facility as needed; prepares patient for exam or procedure and assists physician.
• Observes patients, recognizes changes in condition and promptly seeks appropriate assistance.
• Cleans room before and after procedures, takes soiled equipment to decontamination room.
• Maintains an adequate inventory of equipment and supplies for the assigned area. Places general and special supply orders from purchasing promptly.
• Sets up the procedure room by ensuring all equipment and supplies are present and working.
• Restocks all supplies in assigned rooms at the end of shift.
• Performs quality checks on equipment and ensures repairs if necessary. Cleans and disinfects specialty equipment according to established policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
• EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION

• Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
