Job summary

Citizens Medical Center in Victoria, TX is seeking an Endoscopy Assistant to support patients undergoing endoscopic procedures under RN supervision. You will assist physicians with procedures, ensure patient safety, and help with scope handling and processing.

The role requires taking call on a rotating basis and works within a not-for-profit hospital with a strong commitment to compassionate care and community service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required to permit proper handling of written work and verbal orders.
• Preferred: Experience in a GI or Multi-Specialty medical environment
• Basic Life Support Certification - BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Under RN supervision, care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures and assist physicians while applying age-specific needs.
• Assembles the necessary equipment and supplies according to the procedure performed.
• Assist in connecting patient to BP cuff, ECG leads, pulse oximeter and oxygen.
• Assists physicians and RNs with procedures including bronchoscopies, colonoscopies, EGD, ERCP, PEG tube placement, liver biopsies, etc.
• Removes contaminated scope from the procedure area and assists in cleaning/in processing of scopes.
• Takes call as necessary / assigned.
