Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to assist with a range of endoscopic procedures under supervision. You will help set up and maintain endoscopy equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness for procedures and adherence to ANSI/AAMI guidelines.

The role requires good communication, problem-solving, and the ability to read English instructions. Experience in hospital or endoscopy settings is preferred, and CPR certification is required.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in a hospital, clinic, or endoscopy setting preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to use judgment in problem-solving.
• Knowledge of supplies and equipment used in endoscopy procedures.
• Knowledge of machines, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to troubleshoot operating errors and apply effective decision-making to correct errors.
• Ability to conduct tests and inspections of products, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
• Knowledge of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
• Basic computer literacy and keyboarding skills
• Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with endoscopic procedures under supervision.
• Set up and maintain endoscopy equipment and supplies.
• Receive, decontaminate, transport, and disinfect medical equipment per ANSI/AAMI guidelines.
• Prepare equipment for the procedure room per Manufacturer Instructions for Use (MIFU).
• Provide assistance to physicians during ERCP, FNA, POEM and other procedures.
• Provide on-call coverage for urgent/emergent procedures as scheduled.
• Maintain a clean department environment.
