LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia, is hiring an RN in the Endoscopy department. You will evaluate patients pre- and post-operatively, educate families, and participate in surgical site verification and perioperative care while upholding patient safety and evidence-based practices.

The role requires an RN with a bachelor’s or associate degree, ACLS and BCLS within specified timelines, and at least one year of RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation and preoperative medications
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team in the operating room
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking and leadership to safe care
• Monitor patient condition and document changes
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment and follow-up
