Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare seeks a Registered Nurse RN Endoscopy to provide high-quality perioperative care in a dynamic surgical team. You will evaluate patients, educate families, manage preoperative procedures and participate in site verification and safety protocols.

You will work with an interdisciplinary team, applying nursing judgment and evidence-based practices to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes. On-call during select non-business hours is required.

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• RN license/certification must be current and in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about the procedure and perioperative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification (briefing, time-out, debriefing, universal protocols).
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to care for patients.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes throughout shift.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment and follow-up.
