Job summary

Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, VA is seeking an RN for the Endoscopy unit. You will evaluate patients preoperatively, educate families, prepare patients with IV therapy and preoperative medications, and participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.

You will be part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care, monitoring patient conditions, and responding to emergencies. On-call is required during select non-business hours.

Qualifications

• ACLS within 30 days of start date.
• BLS within 30 days of start date.
• RN Diploma and licensure.
• Critical care experience required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices.
• Be an integral member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Apply the nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor during shift, and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up.
