Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) seeks a professional nurse to provide comprehensive care across SIH units. You will assess patient needs, plan and implement care with a multidisciplinary team, and educate patients and families to promote health and well‑being.

Ideal candidates hold an Illinois RN license and current CPR/BLS, with ACLS/PALS and other certifications required within specified timeframes. SIH emphasizes safety, patient advocacy, and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individual care plan with the healthcare team.
• Provide health teaching and counseling to promote health.
• Use clinical judgement and critical thinking to respond to changes in patient condition.
• Document accurately in the patient medical record.
• Contribute to policy development to support patient safety and quality of care.
• Supervise licensed practical nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel.
• Advocate for patients by collaborating with health professionals.
• Complete required education, competencies, and licensure timely.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency.

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
• Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patient and families
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates an individual plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.
• Provide in health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of patients
• Demonstrate ability to use clinical judgement in conjunction with critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
• Complete, accurate and timely documentation in patient medical record
• Provide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care
• Supervision and delegation responsibilities of licensed practical nurse and/or unlicensed assistant personnel
• Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals
• Timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level

Compensation (Commensurate with experience): $31.25 To $49.06
