Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care to SIH patients across various units listed in the job description. You will assess patient needs, plan and implement individualized care, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to promote optimum health outcomes.

Requirements include an active Illinois RN license, CPR/BLS, ACLS and PALS within specified timelines, and readiness to obtain additional certifications such as

Qualifications

• Current Illinois RN license
• CPR/BLS certification
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire
• ACLS & PALS certification within 6 months of hire
• TNCC or TNS within 1 year of hire (effective 6/2026)
• ECRN within 24 months of hire (effective 6/2026)
• NRP within 6 months of hire
• NRP & PALS within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
• Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patient and families
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates a patient care plan with the health care team
• Provide health teaching and counseling to promote and maintain health
• Use clinical judgement with critical thinking to respond to changes in patient condition
• Document accurately in patient medical records
• Contribute to policy/procedure development for patient safety and quality of care
• Supervise licensed practical nurse and/or unlicensed assistive personnel as assigned
• Advocate for patients by collaborating with health service professionals
• Complete required education, competencies, and licensure on time
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
• Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patient and families
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates an individual plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.
• Provide in health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of patients
• Demonstrate ability to use clinical judgement in conjunction with critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
• Complete, accurate and timely documentation in patient medical record
• Provide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care
• Supervision and delegation responsibilities of licensed practical nurse and/or unlicensed assistant personnel
• Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals
• Timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level

Compensation (Commensurate with experience): $31.25 To $49.06
