Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking a registered nurse to provide professional nursing care across multiple units including ICU, Cardiac, and Mother Baby. You will assess, plan, and implement patient care, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support optimal health outcomes.

Responsibilities include patient education, documentation, and contributing to safety policies. You may float within competency and progress through various SIH units as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must have active Illinois RN license.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • ACLS and related certifications required or within 6 months of hire.
  • TNCC/TNS, ECRN, and NRP/PALS certifications within specified timeframes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care for SIH patients.
  • Assess patient needs across physical, mental, and spiritual domains.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans with the healthcare team.
  • Provide health teaching and counseling to promote well‑being.
  • Use clinical judgment and critical thinking to monitor patient condition changes.
  • Document accurately in the patient medical record in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to policy development to support patient safety and quality care.
  • Supervise licensed practical nurses and other staff as needed.
  • Float to other SIH units within competency level.

Role Specific Responsibilities
  • Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
  • Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patient and families
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates an individual plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Provide in health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of patients
  • Demonstrate ability to use clinical judgement in conjunction with critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
  • Complete, accurate and timely documentation in patient medical record
  • Provide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care
  • Supervision and delegation responsibilities of licensed practical nurse and/or unlicensed assistant personnel
  • Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals
  • Timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.
  • Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level

Compensation (Commensurate with experience): $31.25 To $49.06
