Job summary

STJ St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, WV is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support the operating room and perioperative services.

The role includes decontaminating and distributing endoscopes, transporting patients, and assisting with sterile preparation and supplies according to infection control standards. Responsibilities involve routine cleaning, PPE adherence, and coordinating with the leadership team to ensure patient safety and efficient workflow in a high-stress hospital

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS Certification within 90 days of hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination and distribution of flexible endoscopes and related items.
• Transports surgical patients to and from units and PACU, assists with OR setup using aseptic technique.
• Maintains scope equipment under perioperative services responsibility.
• Assists with Post-OP teardown of surgery suite as needed.
• Gathers supplies, opens surgery packets, and coordinates with CS for load cards.
