Job summary

Methodist Healthcare System seeks a Registered Nurse for the Endoscopy GI Lab in San Antonio. You will evaluate patients before procedures, educate families, and ensure safety through preparation and site verification.

You will collaborate with the surgical team and lead nursing care with critical thinking and evidence-based practices. The role requires a Texas RN license (or multi-state compact with Texas licensing within 60 days), BLS within 30 days, and ACLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
• Minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse.
• Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (RN Compact holders must obtain Texas RN License within 60 days).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification per policy (briefing, time-out, debriefing).
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
• Work within an interdisciplinary team including providers and surgical staff.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care.
