Job summary

AdventHealth Daytona Beach is hiring a Surgical Technologist to anticipate the needs of the surgeon, assemble supplies, and support the sterile environment in the operating room. You will help ensure safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance while maintaining excellent patient and team relations.

This PRN, day-shift role requires willingness to adapt, strong communication, and knowledge of surgical instruments.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and understand English; clear communication required.
• Basic aseptic/sterile technique and knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
• Knowledge of healthcare concepts, practices and procedures.
• Up-to-date knowledge of surgical instruments and supplies.
• Regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
• Understand and follow surgeon instructions accurately.
• Basic computer skills and MS Office knowledge.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Good teamwork and ability to work with multiple staff members.
• Adaptable schedule and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Anticipate surgeon needs and keep circulating nurse informed.
• Maintain high standards for cost savings and containment.
• Assemble supplies, equipment, and medications before procedures.
• Support satisfaction initiatives and maintain relationships with physicians and staff.
• Monitor aseptic technique and correct breaks immediately.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and report concerns to management.
• Supervise and train new personnel in the OR environment.
• Promote safety and manage hazards in emergencies.
• Follow infection control practices and PPE policies.
• Contribute to quality initiatives and performance improvements.
• Assist surgical team as needed and support turnover times.
