Job Description

The Endoscopy Technician will be responsible for the care and handling of flexible endoscopes, exhibit an understanding of endoscopy fundamentals and infection‑control standards, and provide technical support to nursing and physician staff of the GI Endoscopy unit.
Position Function
The Endoscope Reprocessing Technician will care for and reprocess flexible endoscopes, support nursing staff of the GI Endoscopy Unit, and maintain all required documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform all components of high‑level disinfection and reprocessing of GI endoscopes.
- Maintain all GI endoscopes and associated equipment.
- Document required repairs and initiate requisitions.
- Maintain service and repair logs for all GI endoscopes and ancillary GI equipment.
- Care for Automated Endoscope Reprocessors, including disinfectant changes, filter maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Set‑up and break down cases in GI procedure rooms.
- Assist nurses and physicians during GI procedures.
- Transport patients between pre‑/post‑procedure areas and procedure rooms.
- Stock GI procedure rooms and maintain inventory supplies.
- Enter procedure charges using Meditech and perform unit‑based QI activities.
- Collaborate with other health‑care providers to ensure quality care.
- Adhere to safety laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
- Follow Universal Precautions and Infection‑Control standards.
- Participate in unit‑based Q.I. studies and meetings.
- Attend in‑house or external training programs.
- Work effectively with physicians and other GI Endoscopy staff.
Additional Required Components
- Attend Reprocessing Specialist Training (Certificate Course).
- Perform related duties as required on an emergency basis or as directed by the department director or clinical manager.
- Accept exposure to blood and body fluids and follow standard precautions for infection control.
Qualifications
- REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent education. Ability to take after‑hours on‑call responsibilities on a rotating basis.
- Hospital/Medical experience within a patient‑care role for a minimum of 1 year (Endoscopy technician experience preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interest and ability to work within a team environment.
- Strong time‑management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work within different roles and maintain flexibility.
Pay Range
$22.00 – $29.61 (base hourly wage).
Additional compensation may be provided for shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other pay practices in accordance with law.
