Job summary

Nemours Children's Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Endocrinology team in Jacksonville, FL. The MA acts as a liaison among patients, families, providers, and care team members, coordinating patient flow and assisting with data collection and entry into the medical record.

The role includes preparing exam rooms, taking vital signs, administering vaccines, collecting specimens, and supporting outpatient visits per policy and protocol.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Healthcare and Customer Service experience; experience can count toward years of experience.
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
• BLS from American Heart Association within 3 months of employment and maintained as required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families at the clinic per Nemours standards.
• Verify patient identity using two identifiers (name and DOB).
• Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for outpatient visits.
• Room patients and ensure required documents and reports accompany the patient.
• Handle non-controlled medications and clinic supplies inventory and transport.
• Obtain and document height, weight, head circumference, and vital signs.
• Document reason for visit and initiate orders per Nemours protocol.
• Assist with patient examination and treatment.
• Perform point-of-care testing and controls; administer vaccines and medications as defined by policy.
• Collect routine laboratory specimens and operate required medical equipment.
• Assist in the flow of patient care and liaise with support services as needed.
• Make confirmation calls to ensure visits are marked as confirmed.
