The Medical Assistant at MedStar Health performs clinical and administrative duties in ambulatory care under the supervision of a physician or nurse. Duties include venipuncture, medication and vaccine administration, vital signs, and clerical support.

The role may float to other sites within the system and requires strong patient service and documentation in the EMR, with a schedule of Monday–Friday, 8am–4:30pm.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• CMA or RMA certification within 1 year required or preferred.
• CPR training within 90 days required.
• Experience in ambulatory care preferred; externship acceptable.

Responsabilités

• Assists providers with patient preparation for examinations and minor procedures.
• Supports patient flow and provides clerical support to the clinical team.
• Screens patients for preventive care needs and safety concerns.
• Documents activities accurately in the EMR and conducts follow-up tasks.
• Floats to other sites within the system as needed and adheres to safety standards.
