Job summary

Medical City Weatherford is seeking an Endoscopy/GI Lab Registered Nurse to join our team. The role involves evaluating patients prior to procedures, educating patients and families, and ensuring safe preoperative preparation and site verification.

You will work within a dynamic interdisciplinary team, applying nursing processes and evidence-based practices to deliver excellent patient-centered care in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Qualifications

• ACLS and BCLS certifications required within 30 days of employment start date.
• Registered Nurse (RN) with an Associate Degree is required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices and continuous improvement.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor during shift, and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families/caregivers about the medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures.
