Job summary

AmeriCorps VISTA is based at Saint Andre Home’s Esther Residence in Saco, Maine. The project aims to help women and their families access food resources and essential services during recovery.

As a member, you will start a community garden, identify uses for produce for residents and outreach families, and help maintain food resources for clients facing trauma and health challenges. You will work with staff and community members to share information about available food resources and develop

Overview

Helping women and their families have the essential food and resources they need is at the heart of our work in Southern Maine! This VISTA project is based at Saint Andre Home’s Esther Residence program in Saco, Maine. This project offers the opportunity to develop new services and programming for women and their families in recovery, ensuring they have the resources they need to be safer and healthier.

Responsibilities
  • Help the team start a community garden for residents at a transitional and recovery residence.
  • Identify opportunities for how produce from the community garden can also support families in the community.
  • Help the new program identify ways to maintain food resources to support women in recovery from trauma, substance use, mental health challenges, and the impacts of incarceration.
  • Interact and engage with staff, community members, and clients to ensure consistent sharing of information and messaging about available food resources.
Member Duties
