Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Network Development Engineer to design, deploy, and operate SD-Access campus and manufacturing networks across multiple sites. You will own network design from requirements through deployment, operate post-turnover, and drive automation to reduce manual maintenance efforts.

The role involves configuring, troubleshooting, and delivering end-to-end network solutions, collaborating with product and R&D teams, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
• 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment.
• 2+ years of network engineering and deployments for large-scale networks in a corporate environment, including hands-on physical infrastructure installations, hardware integration, racking, and cabling experience.
• 4+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain SD-Access manufacturing networks (underlay, overlay, fabric roles, wireless).
• Own network builds for new sites end to end: requirements gathering, high-level and low-level design, equipment procurement, staging, deployment, and customer turnover.
• Operate and maintain production networks across multiple manufacturing and R&D sites.
• Develop and maintain automation for network provisioning, configuration management, and change execution (Python, Ansible, or equivalent).
• Support real-time and OT use cases including machine vision, PTP timing, and industrial control traffic on the same fabric.
• Partner with product and R&D engineering teams to translate their connectivity requirements into network designs.
• Contribute to the network reference architecture and maintain documentation and runbooks.
• Mentor junior engineers and support engineers on networking best practices.
