Job summary

Gulf Island is seeking an Assembler to support the fabrication and assembly of enclosure components. You will perform basic welding, fit-up and mechanical assembly tasks, following drawings to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.

The role involves outdoor work in varying conditions, operating near overhead cranes, and adhering to PPE guidelines. Join our production team to help create enclosure frames, panels and subassemblies.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in welding, fabrication or mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment.
• 1+ years experience in structural fitting.
• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Basic proficiency with MIG welding.
• Must be able to read and use a tape measure.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions with PPE.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding on enclosure components by following drawings and procedures.
• Perform basic mechanical assembly, including fitting panels and installing hardware.
• Read blueprints to determine weld and assembly requirements.
• Complete roofs, doors and sub-assemblies to support production flow.
• Support material movement using overhead cranes.
• Conduct visual weld checks and report defects.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow PPE requirements.
• Setup and teardown welding/assembly workstations.
• Collaborate with team to meet daily production goals.
