Catalent Pharma Solutions in Saint Petersburg, FL is seeking an Encapsulation Operator to support softgel manufacturing on a 12‑hour rotating night shift. You will monitor materials, complete batch documentation, and participate in equipment changeovers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous manufacturing experience in a GMP‑regulated industry preferred.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 30lbs regularly during a 12‑hour shift; access the manufacturing floor.
  • Ishihara color vision screening with 20/30 acuity (near and far)
  • Work in a high-noise manufacturing area with exposure to chemicals; annual physical required for handling potent compounds.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains up to two encapsulation machines, covering up to four during breaks.
  • Manufactures softgels by following batch records and CGMP standards, completing required documentation.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues to maintain quality and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinates with crib mechanics during machine changeovers; teardown/setup when utilities are unavailable.
  • Monitors material and gel usage; replenishes solvents and lubricants as needed.
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs in‑process quality checks.
  • Assembles, handles, and stages tray stacks with softgels; ensures supplies are stocked.
  • Handles non‑hazardous, hazardous, and DEA‑regulated materials and waste per safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Encapsulation Operator Position Summary

Work Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shift from 7 PM to 7 AM EST, operating on a two-week cycle. Week 1 includes Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; Week 2 includes Wednesday and Thursday. 100% on-site. Join Catalent’s flagship softgel development and manufacturing facility in North America, located in St.Petersburg, FL, with a capacity of 18 billion capsules per year. As an Encapsulation Operator, you will contribute to the manufacturing of pharmaceutical softgels, gaining hands‑on experience with multiple technologies and equipment. You’ll also collaborate with the on‑site Product Development team to support new product innovations.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Operates and maintains up to two encapsulation machines, covering up to four during breaks.
  • Manufactures softgels by following batch record instructions and cGMP standards, completing all required documentation.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues to maintain consistent product quality and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinates with crib mechanics during machine changeovers; performs teardown and setup when utilities are unavailable.
  • Monitors material and gel usage, ensuring components are used within expiration limits and replenishes solvents/lubricants as needed.
  • Maintains a clean work area, performs in-process quality checks, and ensures timely transport of empty receivers.
  • Assembles, handles, and stages tray stacks with manufactured softgels; ensures department supplies are stocked.
  • Handles non‑hazardous, hazardous, and DEA‑regulated materials and waste in compliance with safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous manufacturing experience in a GMP‑regulated industry preferred.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 30lbs regularly during a 12‑hour shift; must be able to access the manufacturing floor.
  • No lifting over 44.09lbs without assistance; must be able to push/pull up to 500kg (approximately 1,100lbs).
  • Must pass Ishihara Color Vision Screening and achieve 20/30 visual acuity (near and far), with or without corrective lenses.
  • Primary workstation is in a high‑noise manufacturing area with exposure to industrial chemicals, detergents, flammable materials, and potent drug compounds; annual physical required for handling potent compounds.
  • Work schedule may include nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
