Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED within 2 years of hire.
• Ability to perform under stress in emergencies.
• Ability to multi-task and use critical thinking.
• Ability to drive an ambulance safely in various weather.
• Follows ambulance safety and transport procedures.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
• BLS certification (AHA).
• Driver's License_PA - State of Pennsylvania at time of hire.
• EMT-B certification at time of hire or National Registry.
• PA EMT requirements and EMS vehicle operator credentials.

Responsibilities

• Represents the ambulance service while on duty at public events.
• Assists with ALS services for paramedics and emergency scene management.
• Cares for patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crises.
• Documents full assessment and treatments in charting software.
• Serves as a member of a two-person ambulance crew.
• Assesses injury/illness and prioritizes medical procedures.
• Responds to dispatcher instructions and drives emergency vehicles.
• Communicates with medical personnel at treatment facilities.
• Stabilizes, immobilizes, and moves victims from scene.
• Establishes equipment inspection schedule and ensures compliance.
