Job summary

Lehigh Valley Hospital, Inc. in Kentucky seeks an EMT-Basic/EMS technician to provide essential prehospital care, standby at public events, and transport patients to facilities.

You will support paramedics with ALS, coordinate with EMS and treatment facilities, and maintaining accurate patient care documentation in charting software. Applicants must meet the physical demands: lift over 50 lb, push/pull up to 140 lb, stand and move for long shifts, and perform under stress with professionalism

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED within 2 years of hire.
• Ability to perform under stress in emergencies.
• Ability to multi-task and to utilize critical thinking.
• Ability to drive an ambulance safely under various weather conditions.
• Adhere to ambulance safety and transport communications policies.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.
• BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) upon hire.
• EMT-B - National or PA state certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Represents the ambulance service while on duty at public events and provides standby services.
• Assists with advanced life support (ALS) tasks with paramedics.
• Cares for patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crises.
• Documents full assessments and treatments in patient care charting software.
• Serves as a two-member ambulance crew member on calls.
• Assesses injury/illness and prioritizes medical procedures.
• Drives and operates emergency vehicles to locations safely.
• Communicates with receiving facilities for treatment instructions.
• Stabilizes, immobilizes, and moves patients as needed.
• Maintains equipment inspection schedules and decontaminates ambulance after transport.
• Complies with safety policies and risk-reduction measures.
