Job summary

Alameda County Fire Department is seeking a Firefighter Recruit - EMT to begin entry-level training in our academy. You will learn essential suppression, prevention and emergency response skills while serving the community across Alameda County.

Successful trainees progress to a Firefighter role after completing the program and meeting performance standards. A combined eighteen-month probation applies to both positions, with opportunities for growth within the department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with valid EMT credentials.
• Active placement on the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center (FCTC) State Eligibility List by filing deadline.
• License: valid California EMT or NREMT or Paramedic path.

Responsibilities

• Complete EMT training in the Alameda County Fire Department Training Academy.
• Promote to Firefighter after training and probation.
• Meet an 18‑month combined probation period for both positions.
