Job summary

Stafford County is seeking applicants for the Fire and Rescue Recruit program. Recruits will enter the Recruit Academy for comprehensive training in firefighting, EMS, rescue techniques, vehicle operation, and prevention practices to prepare for full-time duties.

Upon successful completion and probation, promotion to Firefighter/EMT is possible. Participants will be supervised by the Training Academy Cadre under the Chief Training Officer.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age prior to application.
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Recruit Academy.
• Maintain an 80% cumulative GPA during Recruit Academy.
• Complete the Recruit Academy Honor Code and Work Performance Exam.
• After academy, be assigned to field operations with varied firefighting and EMS duties.
