Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a dedicated EMT to transport patients by ambulance, ensure safe vehicle operation, and provide Basic Life Support as required. The role involves using CAD, documenting delays, communicating with dispatch, and completing ePCRs with accuracy.

Responsibilities include vehicle inspection, adherence to radio protocols, incident reporting, proper patient handoffs, and maintaining equipment and PPE in a high-demand EMS environment within New York State.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent.
• Current NYS EMT certification.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Driver's License valid in New York State.

Responsibilities

• Logs onto CAD system with FDNY within five minutes of shift start and documents delays.
• Reports any vehicle deficiencies to management after a check at the start of the tour.
• Communicates via radio with dispatcher and follows radio protocol.
• Monitors MDT and communicates changes in signal status per local guidelines.
• Follows local and state patient care protocols.
• Maintains professional relationships with emergency personnel and hospital staff during transfers.
• Delivers clear, concise patient information to hospital staff and answers questions about patient condition.
• Completes ePCR or paper ambulance call reports promptly and legibly.
• Completes all forms (e.g., tour recaps, ePCR) by shift end.
• Reviews read and sign book and new communications at each shift start.
• Maintains and cleans vehicle and equipment as directed by management.
• Stores and maintains PPE and helmet and reports damaged items.
• Performs related duties as required.
